Get connected to electricity or gas

We are currently working on this section of our site. But for now, here’s a short explanation showing how the process works. Some jobs take longer than others and if we think your job might fall outside the timeframes below we will let you know.
  • Step one: contact us for a quote - for an electricity connection call 09 529 8444 or gas call 0800 222 260. Or you can request a quote online.
  • Step two: most single site residential jobs will take us up to two weeks to price and quote. For more complex jobs, we will let you know what timeframe to expect. Once you have accepted/paid we will start to plan the connection. You may need to obtain a resource consent and/or easement/s before we can start work, we will advise you if this needs to be done.
  • Step three: We plan the work, and get the necessary plans and consents we need from council and other utilities. This can take us up to four weeks, but we’ll let you know when it’s completed.
  • Step four: We start the work, which usually takes two weeks, on the date agreed with you.
  • Step five: For electricity connections you’ll need to contact your electrician to install service lines to your house from the point of supply we installed at the boundary. You can then contact your retailer to liven your connection.  For a gas connection you’ll need to contact your gasfitter who will install your appliances (if not already installed), turn on the gas and advise your retailer.
Fibre (businesses only) and LPG connections differ from the above process – for fibre call 0800 826 436 and LPG 0800 841 212.
