Electricity
Distribution network
Vector owns and operates the electricity distribution network in the greater Auckland region. Our network extends from just north of Wellsford to Papakura in the south, covering Auckland City, North Shore City, Waitakere City, Rodney District, Manukau City and parts of the Papakura District. Our electricity lines and cables deliver power to more than 456,000 homes and 60,000 businesses on behalf of electricity retailers

Gas
Transportation
We own and operate 2,286 kilometres of high pressure transmission gas pipelines throughout the North Island. We also operate the 313 kilometre Maui Pipeline for Maui Development Limited and manage over 1,230 kilometres of surface easements for petroleum product pipelines owned by other companies.
Our extensive natural gas distribution networks in over 30 towns and cities across the North Island supply gas to 149,516 domestic and business customers.
Sales
Vector holds long term entitlements to gas from New Zealand’s major fields and sells natural gas to gas retailers, electricity generators, and other large commercial and industrial customers. Vector’s gas brand, OnGas, promotes both piped and bottled gas supply to customers throughout New Zealand. Through its LPG businesses, Vector handles over 200,000 tonnes of LPG annually.
Processing
We own and operate gas processing facilities at Kapuni in South Taranaki. The plant processes raw gas from local fields to produce specification gas for the reticulated market. During the treatment process, the plant also produces propane and butane (LPGs), natural gasoline and carbon dioxide for sale in New Zealand.

Fibre optics
We are an independent owner, operator and wholesaler of open access fibre optic networks on a significant scale in Auckland and Wellington. The network uses the latest technology and is designed to accommodate the widest range of functions and services.
Energy metering
We operate two metering businesses – Advanced Metering Services Limited and Advanced Metering Assets. Between them, these businesses own and operate meters and metering services to over 800,000 homes and business across New Zealand.
Advanced Metering Services delivers “smart” meter services and data over its nationwide advanced metering infrastructure as well as a range of Time of Use services to its commercial and industrial customers.
Vector also provides a range of gas meters and gas metering services to over 80,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in New Zealand.
Windfarms
NZ Windfarms Limited is a power generation company that sells sustainably generated electricity from wind turbines. It is currently developing the 48.5MW Te Rere Hau Wind Farm Project situated on the Tararua Ranges near Palmerston North. Vector has a 22.11% shareholding in the company.
Vegetation management
Treescape is a professional arboricultural company, 50% owned by Vector. Its services include tree trimming around electricity lines,. Treescape is one of Australasia’s largest tree and vegetation control companies.
