Community
In keeping with our overall philosophy of being a responsive and responsible corporate citizen, we support the communities in which we operate. Our current programme of sponsorship and support includes:
School education programmes
Vector offers two free education programmes to primary and intermediate schools on our Auckland electricity network and one in Taranaki where Vector runs its transmission pipeline operation. These programmes are delivered in-class by dedicated school educators and teach kids about how to stay safe around our energy networks, the different forms of energy and how to be responsible with energy use.
All our programmes include in-class displays, interactive learning tools, student workbooks, fun giveaways and a website with games and experiments.
Stay Safe Around Electricity (for years 3 to 6) is into its seventh year in the Auckland region and has been delivered to thousands of schools and over 50,000 students over that time. It is connected to the curriculum through Science and Health (levels 2, 3 & 4). The in-class programme takes an hour and is an interactive, fun way for students to learn about the dangers of electricity and how to stay safe.
Be Sustainable with Energy (for years 4 to 7) was launched in 2011 and is linked to the curriculum in science, maths, statistics & technology (levels 3 and 4). This programme takes an hour and educates students about the different sources of renewable and non-renewable energy in NZ and the impact of energy production on our environment. It also explores how to be energy efficient and the different types of energy.
Discover Natural Gas (for years 5 to 8) was launched to Taranaki schools in term one 2012. This is a great new way for kids across the Taranaki region to learn about the wonders of natural gas, the region’s special relationship with the gas industry and gas safety.
The interactive, one hour presentation includes visual displays and games. Our School Educator ensures students have the opportunity to get involved in a number of exercises and engage in discussion.

Vector Arena
We are proud to be the naming rights sponsor of Auckland’s world-class entertainment venue, the Vector Arena, a key piece of infrastructure – not only for the Auckland region - but for New Zealand.
The Vector Arena seats up to 12,200 people and attracts major events ranging from internationally-renowned family shows, opera and rock concerts, sporting and business events and exhibitions.
Vector Wellington Orchestra
Vector Wellington Orchestra is the orchestra of the central region of New Zealand. It is a part-time professional orchestra and is an essential part of the region's musical infrastructure, performing to over 100,000 people last year.
Kiwi Can
Vector proudly sponsors Kiwi Can, a Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) life skills and values programme for 5-12 year olds.
We are committed to keeping the youngest members of our communities safe. Through our sponsorship with Kiwi Can we are helping equip young New Zealanders with a 'can do' attitude to life’s challenges, valuable life skills, and the ability to take responsibility and be accountable for their actions.
New Zealand Shareholders Association (NZSA)
The NZSA represents over 1000 members and shareholders in New Zealand and aims to fulfil three key functions – educating investors, protecting investors’ interests by monitoring the activity of listed businesses and rewarding investors through the improved governance of the boards of companies listed on the exchange.
We recognise the independence of the organisation and the significance of its role in enabling investors to participate in the New Zealand stock market.
Strengthening the size of the capital markets is increasingly important for the future of the New Zealand economy, and we believe the NZSA contributes enormously to the equity market landscape, particularly by protecting the interests of New Zealand investors.
