Benefits of gas

With its instant heat and precise control, gas is a clean, efficient energy source that is ready when you need it, for as long as you want it.

Gas is clean
Gas burns cleanly, leaving no ash, dust or smoke. Of all the fossil fuels available, gas creates the least greenhouse gas emissions and so contributes to the improvement of New Zealand’s energy efficiency.

Gas is efficient
Gas is an instant and economic fuel for heating water and large areas, as well as for cooking. It can deliver a power output far greater than electricity’s standard 2.2 kilowatts. Gas burners produce fewer emissions and are highly energy efficient, often 80 – 90 percent, and gas appliances are usually cheaper to operate than electrical units.

Gas is instant
It takes only a little gas to produce a lot of energy - instantly. This makes gas extremely economical to use for heating homes or businesses. There are a range of commercial heating options available, including: gas-fired boilers, unit heaters designed for large open areas, co-generation systems, and afterburners which use burnt waste to produce heat.

Gas is precise
Preferred by professional and amateur chefs alike, gas provides instant heat, searing intensity and precise temperature control.

Gas is here to stay
Gas remains plentiful in New Zealand, and is a long term energy source for heating, cooking and providing endless hot water.
