9AM SUNDAY – All services running, monitoring continues

With a temporary solution in place, services to all our customers are up and running. Our movements in the building are still constrained given the safety risk with asbestos and water damage. This also presents uncertainties about the site going forward.

We continue to work on a long term solution and will provide updates on any developments.

With a temporary solution in place, services to most of our customers are up and running as of last night. However our movements in the building are still constrained given the safety risk with asbestos and water damage. This also presents uncertainties about the site going forward.

FRIDAY 7:45PM UPDATE: Most services restored

Our telecommunications services have been restored following a fire in the Auckland CBD Clearpoint Building during asbestos removal.

We now have a temporary solution in place which should mean most the customers affected by the telecommunications outage are back up and running.

Our movements in the building are still constrained given the asbestos safety risk and we are uncertain about the overall security of the building and access going forward. We will continue to work through solutions under these difficult circumstances.

We will keep you updated if there are any developments.

FRIDAY 6PM UPDATE: Telecommunications outages

As reported in the media today, there was a fire in the downtown Auckland Clearpoint Building during the removal of asbestos. As a result, the main power source feeding our telecommunications equipment housed in the building has been shut down, as has our standby generator. This is causing telecommunications outages for some customers.

Worksafe have isolated the building for safety reasons which is preventing our ability to access the equipment. We are mobilising crew at the building to assess the situation before attempting to restore services. This relies on acces to the building.

We will provide updates on key developments.

FRIDAY 5:00PM: Possible telecommunications outages

As reported in the media, there was a fire in the downtown Auckland Clearpoint Building during the removal of asbestos. As a result, the main power source feeding our communications equipment housed in the building has been shut down, as has our standby generator.

The equipment is currently being supplied by battery power which has a limited supply life. Worksafe have isolated the building for safety reasons which is preventing our ability to assess the situation.

Our crews on site are ready to restore if any damage has occurred as soon as possible pending access. We will keep you updated with developments.
