lighting policy

Vector Lights on Auckland Harbour Bridge is part of a smart energy partnership between Vector, Auckland Council and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
As a world-class solar, battery and peer-to-peer powered light show, Vector Lights demonstrates a smarter way to power our city.
Vector Lights celebrates international & local events, national holidays, cultural celebrations and not-for-profit causes, and a calendar of activity has been created accordingly.
On occasions there will be opportunities to light the bridge in addition to the scheduled calendar. The public are welcome to request lighting for a specific cause or occasion to be considered for these opportunities. Requests should be made in writing using the below form. Submissions of requests are open all year-round for consideration on 1 May and 1 November. Vector, Auckland Council and NZTA will consider all requests in their absolute discretion and contact you in writing to advise whether your request can be fulfilled.
Please use the Vector Lights Supporting NZ Charities/Community Groups Application Form to submit your request.
As a general guideline, we may agree to activate Vector Lights for any of the following reasons:

  • For community initiatives or not-for-profit causes
  • To mark a special public event, milestone or celebration
  • For a public holiday or recognised anniversary

Vector Lights is not affiliated with any specific political or religious movement. Vector Lights is a gift to people of all persuasions.
