Responding to COVID-19

Industry Updates
As a provider of critical infrastructure services, Vector is working hard to ensure we can respond quickly and effectively to ongoing disruption brought on by the covid-19 pandemic.

For us this starts with protecting our people - many of whom play a critical role in keeping the lights on and energy flowing for the people of Auckland and beyond.

Like you, we have been keeping a close watch on the evolving covid-19 situation and are taking steps to be as prepared as we can be. Our ‘safety always’ commitment to our people, customers, partners and communities will continue to underpin our response. We would like to take this chance to share some of our planning with you.

Visiting Vector:
We have recently suspended all non-critical business-related air-travel. Furthermore, visitors traveling by air to see us will be asked to reschedule with a teleconference or video conference. We have also asked people who have recently travelled to high or extreme risk destinations to avoid our workplaces until they have completed a 14-day self-isolation period.

If anyone does need to come to a Vector site in person, they will be asked to confirm that:

  • they have not travelled to us via air;
  • they have not travelled to or transited through a high-risk country within the past 14 days; and
  • that they have not been in direct contact with someone who has.

We are asking that people do not come to work or visit Vector if they are unwell, being especially alert to cold and flu symptoms. It is important that we look after ourselves – and just as important that we don’t put our colleagues at risk.

Testing Working from Home:
Vector has and will continue to test how our systems respond when a large number of our people work from home at any one time. Our expectation is that these working from home test exercises will result in a largely unnoticeable experience for you. We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to carry out these test activities.

Keeping it clean:
Like many other businesses we are doing everything we can to ensure public health messages are reaching our people. We are providing additional personal hygiene guidance, using approved cleaning products and taking additional cleaning measures around the business.

Preventing the spread of covid-19 is a community effort that is greatly enhanced through the various social distancing principles we are adopting and those we will consider as this situation evolves. Your support, patience and understanding as we continue to adjust our business, so we can continue to serve our customers and protect our people, is greatly appreciated.
