FAQS

What is the purpose of the upcoming work in our area?

The purpose of this work is to replace electrical equipment located at 263 Parnell Road, Parnell. This work is essential to ensure a reliable power supply for everyone in the area.

When will the work take place?

The project is scheduled to start on the 24th of June 2024 to 13th July 2024.  This includes reinstatement of the work site.

Who is carrying out the work?

The civil work will be completed by Dreadnought Civils, while Downer will handle the electrical work, both on behalf of Vector.

What is the nature of the civil work that you will be undertaking?

The civil work involves directional drilling and open trenching to install new ducts and electrical cables.  Most work will occur between 09h00 and 16h00 on weekdays, with noise levels typical of civil construction.  Noise mitigation measures, such as noise mats, will be used to minimise disturbances.

Noise will be limited to daytime hours, while low-noise activities without mechanised tools are scheduled for night works.

How will traffic management measures affect my daily commute?
Traffic management measures, coordinated with the Parnell Business Association, will ensure the safety of both drivers and construction crews.  While these measures may cause some inconvenience, we are committed to minimising disruptions as much as possible.
How will power outages be managed?
Planned power outages are necessary for some of the work. Affected customers will receive specific information about the dates and times of outages at least 10 days in advance.  We’ll use a temporary substation to provide power during these outages.
Who can I contact if I have further questions or concerns?
For any questions or concerns about the upcoming work, please contact Shane Narainsamy on 027 330 7585 or Rajneel Singh on 021 950 683
Was conducting night works considered an option?
Yes, however this would significantly extend the overall duration of the construction activities and generate substantial noise after hours.
How will updates progress or any delays in the timeline be communicated?

We are working very closely with Non Solo Pizza, the Parnell Business Association and other key stakeholders to maintain open communication through face-to-face interactions emails, phone calls and customer letters.

Impacted customers will receive timely notifications regarding planned power outages, confirming dates and times at least 10 days in advance.  Additionally, we will work with the Parnell Business Association to disseminate information to the wider business district.

What measures are in place to ensure safety during the work?

Safety is our top priority during the construction period.  We have rigorous safety protocols in place to protect both pedestrians and drivers.  Traffic controllers will be on-site to assist with traffic flow, ensuring safe passage for all road users.  Our construction crews are trained to adhere to strict safety guidelines and procedures, and the work site will be properly cordoned off to restrict access and enhance safety.

We understand the importance of maintaining a safe environment for everyone involved, and we are committed to upholding the highest safety standards throughout the duration of the project.
